As part of its high-minded plan to become an “AI University”, UF is hosting a new “AI in Agriculture” conference. Four students from our lab presented there, and Dr. Li moderated a breakout session. We all spent the last couple of days at a hotel in Orlando, attending what for some of us was our first in-person conference since the pandemic.

Though most of BSAIL has moved to UF, there are still a few people who were left behind at UGA for various reasons. As such, this was the first occasion where personnel from both our northern and southern branches were able to meet in-person since last year.

Javier won second place for his poster, triumphing over a very crowded field. Unfortunately, the rest of us had left by the time the award was announced, so we were not there to celebrate with him.

We’re still very proud of him, though. If you would like to see his award-winning poster, that can be arranged.

Overall, we had a lot of fun, and we’ll hopefully be back next year. Maybe we’ll see you there too!
